World Record

A twenty-nine New Zealand free diver set the world record in the Bahamas, by plunging 380ft into the Atlantic Ocean. William Trubridge held his breath for four minutes and nine seconds. He attempted the free dive in world's deepest underwater sinkhole in the Bahamas.

Though it was not just a breeze for him, he had to battle Nitrogen narcosis. Nitrogen Narcosis is when hotheadedness or euphoria occurs when deep sea divers when nitrogen from air enters the blood at higher than atmospheric pressure.
To be able to break not only one record, but ten records is outstanding and very impressive. I think it is really cool to be able to accomplish such a goal with oneself. When you train your whole life for a moment to be the best. It takes a lot of motivation, determination and dedication to be able to experience that feeling. If I was to ever have a world record, I would feel very proud of myself and extremely accomplished.

Earth Day

This Earth day, we all realized what our greatest challenge was. Our greatest challenge today is climate change, but this challenge challenges others to rethink new options for transitioning into a green economy.

The Bahamas is taking action by advancing its climate and energy policy, encouraging energy efficiency, and encouraging renewable energy. The Bahamas are venturing toward the application of waste-to-energy technology in New Providence and in exploring demonstration projects for more renewable energy projects.

I'm glad that the different countries are stepping up to contribute to our Earth. When certain countries stick up for our planet, many other countries will do the same or try to even more in pure competition. This competition that is between the countries could save our planet and make it a better place for all. Everyday we polute our airs and waters, but if we watch what we do, or develope better habits our world will be a much better place.

legalized gambling

A Nassau guardian team approached the Bahamian people whether gambling should be legalized or not. Many people have different sides to it but in fact the prime minster informed many groups that the government is taking it into consideration.

Many people believe that it should not be legalized to gamble because the bible speaks against it.
Also many people believe that gambling makes me people go in debt, so legalizing it would just add on to the poverty in the Bahamas.

But others see no reason while gambling should not be legalized. It would stop many arrests in the Bahama area and since they already have legalized casinos that the visitors attend.

Overall, I frown upon gambling. When people gamble, they can gamble their lives away. One of my family members had a gambling problem and the more he became addicted, the deeper the debt became; it affected all of us and it still does today. I personally do not see why gambling should be legalized anywhere in the world, because it causes unfortunate poverty, ruins relationships with people, and can destroy lives.
